Nearly 60% of the hottest hotspot for concentrations of vulnerable plant species, the Agulhas Plain in the most southerly region of Africa, is threatened by biological invasion.
However, the Regenerative Space (R-SPACE) team has been exploring and implementing various bold projects for the past four years to manage the crisis sustainably.
The fynbos biome, where 70% of the plants are found nowhere else in the world, is threatened by invasive alien plants (IAP), including eucalypts, cluster pine, hakea and acacias.
