Our sawmilling customer needed a solution and decided to build a machine unlike any we have delivered before. The result? The double arbour Multirip 260 is our largest and most powerful machine to date.
Built entirely from solid steel, the multirip is designed to endure the most demanding sawmill environments. It features a passage 285mm high x 800mm wide, offering a cutting height of 260mm and a capacity of 250kW per arbour.
For this customer, the machine was delivered at 90kW per arbour, since their production does not require higher feed speeds. Running comfortably at 30m/min or 20m/min when cutting at 240mm high, the Multirip 260 can, in standard form, reach an impressive 100m/min.
With space for up to 12 blades per arbour, fully adjustable to suit different cutting patterns, and a feed system consisting of four hydraulically driven press-down rollers and six driven bottom rollers powered by a 7.5kW geared motor, this is a serious machine for serious logs.

We equipped the Multirip 260 with our proven curve sawing unit. By following the natural curve of the log rather than cutting straight, the customer has achieved an impressive 2–2.5% higher recovery rate and a significant gain in efficiency and value.

The Multirip 260 is just one example of the growing capabilities of our in-house engineering department. Recent builds include the NDA160 and NDA200 multirip models, both designed to handle large logs with precision and reliability.
The NDA160 can rip logs up to 500mm wide x 160mm high (165mm maximum cutting height), while the NDA200 cuts logs up to 500mm wide x 200mm high (215mm maximum cutting height). Each is built with custom roller configurations to suit specific production requirements, delivering the robust design and attention to detail we are known for.
Beyond multirip saws, we continue to expand our engineering range, developing custom infeed systems, conveyor extensions, and even a printing head system for wood marking using a REA printing head.

Nukor recently built a customised grading line for a South African sawmill. Boards from a high-speed planer are fed onto the grading line. They are visually checked for defects before entering the scanning zone, where a pneumatic waste gate rejects any damaged boards. A Nukor piece feeder feeds single boards for curve scanning and Viscan (strength grading). Thereafter, the boards pass through the Microtec Goldeneye (3D laser, scattering laser, colour, and X-ray) scanner for visual grading before entering the final zone, where the automatic linear printer unit (ReaJet and Nukor design) prints the customer’s label and lumber grade.
